The First Post...

Greetings, and thanks for reading.
So finally I have gotten the nerve to write my blog, something I have been "thinking about doing" for a long time.
I guess you are wondering why I would be nervous about this?
Well mainly from the fear that no-one will ever read it!

Also the continuing questions of "Will I be able to keep it up, or will it be the next 'Twitter' in my life?" - I "tweeted" enthusiastically for about two months, and then lost all interest. If I couldn't handle the 'micro' blogging, how can I possibly maintain an actual website?
We'll see.

The other question haunting me relates to content, or the lack of it, and how much of my personal life it is appropriate for me to publish (beginning with the assumption that no-one will ever actually read it, is no comfort).
I was compelled to join Facebook when I first  decided to live outside of my home country of Australia, as a way of keeping in touch with the 'peeps' back home, but really - apart from a brief addiction to online tetris - I never got into fb. I haven't posted anything for years, and only use their messaging system to contact certain family members who are still prolific facebookers.

Since I don't see my little blog page going viral, I have decided to share as much as I can without getting too personal. Let's begin.

My Family Life

That's my crew. I'm the guy in the suit. My wife Yuki is on the left, holding our daughter Mai, who is now almost three and 1/2 years old. Ken, who is now five, is with me.
Japanese readers will recognise the 7-5-3 festival dress.

We live in Japan, on the southernmost main island, called Kyushu. Our current home is in Oita City, Oita Prefecture, where we have lived over the five years since Ken was born.
