Subway Day.
I took a ride on the Delhi Metro today, with my son. Like most boys his age, he is excited by all things transport, so he's been looking forward to this first train ride in India.
What can we say about the Delhi Metro transit service?
It is surprisingly good. Clean, efficient and cheap. Inner city sections are underground, but once you get about a kilometer from the city centre, the lines are mostly elevated.
The service is extremely popular, both our journeys today were in full cars with around half of the passengers standing and all seats occupied - sunday is not a work day for company and government people here - so the trains must be really packed on weekdays.
We rode from the station near our house (about ten minutes walk away but we went by auto rickshaw) to the Khan Market, just three stops down the line.
Khan market is one of the city's most famous shopping areas, with upmarket boutiques and international brand stores. So really too expensive for my taste. But we did stretch the budget to coffee and a strawberry milkshake at a nice little pastry shop.
Sorry. No photos today. My old laptop pc had just died.
Sad.
